In order to work effectively with children and young people with additional support needs, information and understanding needs to be developed of children's needs as well as working in partnership with parents/carers and specific agencies. Children with needs have the right to work alongside other children which gives children with additional support needs more rights. Settings will need to adapt the environment in order to maintain a provision suitable for all.

Children's additional support needs can be established by working closely with parents/carers, the health sector and other agencies to enable you to work through the process, meeting the needs of all children.
