Learning

Learning experiences means any action such as an experience or activity which allows the children to learn.

By giving children various activities and experiences they are challenged to make progress. Providing vibrant and exciting experiences allows each child to develop and practise their skills. They need to have learning experiences in the classroom as well as outdoors. Children learn via direct experiences best. They know many things and can undertake a variety of tasks themselves. The aim is to undertake appropriate planning in order to increase their learning, by considering their interests and previous experiences.

By giving children a variety of direct activities e.g. celebrating various cultures, arranging visits, role play and making use of the outdoors, they will build confidence and develop an understanding of the world around them.

Adult-led (structured) and child-led (spontaneous) activities should be arranged in order to meet the needs of individual children. This will encourage the children to look at their experiences positively and reconsider the outcomes. This will contribute towards each area of learning.

A variety of learning experiences must be provided in order to meet the outcomes of the Foundation Phase Framework.
