Inactivity

Anweithgarwch

Inactivity

The NHS in Wales spent £35 million in 2015 treating preventable diseases caused by physical inactivity, according to an analysis by Public Health Wales.

Diseases such as heart disease, strokes and Type 2 diabetes could be prevented by simply moving more. Research shows that 30% of adults in Wales spend less than 30 minutes a week being active. That is two hours less than the recommended guidelines.

Mae'r GIG yng Nghymru yn gwario £35 miliwn yn 2015 yn trin clefydau y mae modd eu hosgoi a achosir gan anweithgarwch corfforol, yn ôl dadansoddiad gan Iechyd Cyhoeddus Cymru.

Gallai clefydau fel clefyd y galon, strôc a diabetes Math 2 gael eu hatal yn syml drwy symud mwy. Mae ymchwil yn dangos bod 30% o oedolion yng Nghymru yn treulio llai na 30 munud yr wythnos yn gwneud rhywbeth egnïol yn gorfforol. Mae hynny ddwy awr yn llai na'r canllawiau a argymhellir.

Poor diet

Deiet gwael

Poor Diet

Poor diet can lead to a range of preventable illnesses and conditions such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, cancer and osteoporosis.

Eating foods high in sugar, fat and calories can add extra weight to your body, weakening your bones and making your organs work harder.

Too much saturated fat may increase cholesterol and raise your blood pressure which can both lead to heart disease.

Not enough vitamins and minerals in your diet will affect the health of your body. For example, not enough calcium in your diet can lead to weak bones.

You can maintain a healthy weight and avoid health problems by eating a balanced diet. To do this:

  • eat plenty of carbohydrates
  • eat at least five portions of fruit and vegetables every day
  • cut down on the amount of fat, sugar and salt in your diet
  • eat enough vitamins and minerals
  • drink enough fluids.

Gall deiet gwael arwain at bob math o salwch y mae modd eu hosgoi a chyflyrau fel gordewdra, diabetes math 2, clefyd y galon, canser ac osteoporosis.

Gall bwyta bwydydd sy'n llawn siwgr, braster a chalorïau wneud i chi fagu pwysau, gan wanhau eich esgyrn a gwneud i'ch organau weithio'n galetach.

Gall gormod o fraster dirlawn gynyddu colesterol a chodi eich pwysedd gwaed a all arwain at glefyd y galon.

Os na fydd digon o fitaminau neu fwynau yn eich deiet bydd yn effeithio ar iechyd eich corff. Er enghraifft, os na fydd digon o galsiwm yn eich deiet gall eich esgyrn fynd yn wan.

Gallwch gynnal pwysau iach ac osgoi problemau iechyd drwy gynnal deiet cytbwys. I wneud hyn:

  • bwytewch ddigon o garbohydradau
  • bwytewch o leiaf bum dogn o ffrwythau a llysiau bob dydd
  • cwtogwch ar y braster, siwgr a halen sydd yn eich deiet
  • bwytewch ddigon o fitaminau neu fwynau
  • yfwch ddigon o hylif.

Immunisation

Imiwneiddio

Immunisation

It is important that all children and babies are fully immunised to protect them from potentially serious diseases. Once common illnesses, such as diphtheria and tetanus, are now rare in the UK because of immunisation.

Adults also benefit from immunisation. Some individuals will need immunisations to protect their health in work or if travelling. For those at increased risk to complications of influenza, the annual flu vaccine is recommended.

Mae'n bwysig bod pob plentyn a babi yn cael eu himiwneiddio i'w diogelu rhag clefydau a allai fod yn ddifrifol. Mae rhai mathau o salwch a fu unwaith yn gyffredin, fel difftheria a thetanws, bellach yn brin yn y DU oherwydd y rhaglen imiwneiddio.

Mae oedolion hefyd yn elwa ar imiwneiddiadau. Bydd angen i rai unigolion gael eu himiwneiddio er mwyn diogelu eu hiechyd wrth iddynt weithio neu deithio. I'r rhai sy'n wynebu mwy o risg o gymhlethdodau o ganlyniad i'r ffliw, argymhellir y dylent gael brechlyn y ffliw.
